Gilas Men reach semifinals after commanding win over Singapore

Gilas Pilipinas Men earned a ticket to the semifinals of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 5-on-5 basketball tournament with a dominant 105-45 win over Singapore Saturday at the Morodok Techo Stadium in Cambodia. 

Marcio Lassiter led a balanced effort from the Philippines with 16 points on an efficient 6-for-10 shooting from the field. CJ Perez had a double-double performance of 13 points and 11 rebounds while Justin Brownlee, Jerom Lastimosa, and Michael Phillips put up 12 points each. 

The Philippines opened the game with a blazing 21-0 start and ended the first quarter with a 29-5 advantage. The national team kept its foot on the gas pedal for the rest of the way as the lead ballooned to as high as 63 points in the lopsided contest. 

Shi Yu Ng was the lone Singapore player who reached double figures with 10 points. 

Gilas Men finished Group A with a 2-1 record as the second seed. The semifinals will be played on Monday.
