Rhayyan Amsali thinks hosting 3×3 World Cup is good for Filipinos and increases medal chances

Rhayyan Amsali has represented the Philippines in international 3×3 competition. Most notably the U18 Asia Cup in Cyberjaya, Malaysia as well as the U18 World Cup in Chengdu, China.

In both competitions, Amsali led the Philippines to a 7th place finish out of a total of 16 and 20 participating nations in the respective tournaments.

The 6’3” forward out of Zamboanga City is ranked the 256th best player in the 3×3 competition in the world. “Good exposure yun para sa akin at sa mga nagging teammates ko tulad nila Harvey Pagsanjan (Hope Christian High School) at Encho Serrano (then with Adamson). Ang laking tulong yung sa personal growth.”

“Sa tingin ko, maganda yung tayo mag-host ng FIBA 3×3 World Cup,” said Amsali who plays his high school basketball for National University. “Lalo ma-expose yung mga tao sa laro na to. Sabi nila, may chance tayo manalo ng Olympic medal sa sport na ‘to. Naniniwala ako diyan so good exposure to.”

“Dapat yung 3×3 hanggang sa elementary level ituro na sa mga bata. Iba rin kasi yung pace at diskarte ng laro. At iba rin dun sa traditional halfcourt kasi meron 12 second shot clock. But good ‘to sa mga Pilipino.”
