Philippines ends Fiba 3×3 World Cup campaign on a winning note

The Philippines ended its inaugural Fiba 3×3 World Cup campaign with a stunning 19-12 win over Russia to send the huge crowd at the Philippine Arena into tears of joy.

After losing to Canada, 20-19, that saw them bow out of contention for the quarterfinals, the Filipinos came out with a lot of fire determined to send the partisan crowd happy.

“We messed up and we just wanted to make sure all these fans went home happy,” said Stanley Pringle Jr after the win.

The Philippines broke away early in the game and never looked back.

Stanley Pringle led the Philippines with 9 points while Troy Rosario added 8.

“Think about it, we beat some ranked teams and came close to beating others in our our first 3×3 stint,” noted Christian Standhardinger. “Imagine if we had more time to practice? We could have done better
and maybe won all four games.”

“We hope to do better next time.”
