Gilas Pilipinas notched its fifth straight win in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers after beating Indonesia, 76-51, on Friday at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Angeles, Pampanga.
Justine Baltazar and Angelo Kouame paced the national squad, combining for 22 points and 14 rebounds. Dwight Ramos came off the bench and added a double-double of 10 points and 12 boards.
Gilas was only up 30-22 at halftime, but had a strong third period, which included a 13-0 run, to establish a double-digit lead they would never relinquish.
“At first, we could not execute our plays, but in the second half, things got a lot better when we were able to follow the coaches’ instructions,” Baltazar said after the game.
Lester Prosper had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Indonesians.
The Philippines, which remains atop Group A with a 5-0 record, plays South Korea again on Sunday at 3 p.m.
