Gilas Pilipinas Men’s campaign in the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 came to an end following a 102-81 decision against Japan Tuesday in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ray Parks finished with a team-high 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting to go along with three assists while Kiefer Ravena was right behind with 15 points and three rebounds. Carl Tamayo added 10 points.

Japan raced to an early 19-7 lead roughly five minutes into the game and held a 32-16 advantage after the opening quarter.

Gilas was able to get a bit of momentum after NBA talent Yuta Watanabe sustained an ankle injury early in the third period. Unfortunately for the Philippines, every big shot was countered by their opponent.

Five players from Japan breached double figures led by Yuki Togashi’s 18 points and Luke Evans’ 17. Watanabe and Yudai Nishida chipped in with 15 apiece.

Japan moves on to face Australia in the quarterfinals.
